Mobile Furnace Repair, Apple Dumplin, Laundry and Happy Hour

Monday, March 1, where did February go? I'm up at 7:00 to see that the streets are all wet. I never heard it rain or heard the front blow through. The skies are clear blue and the wind is calm now. The high gets to 71 degrees after a low of 56. I work on journal pages this morning. On-line I find the 34 TGR Grand Junction floorplan. It is a rear kitchen model. Nan and Roxy and I walk at 9:30 after breakfast. It is a gorgeous day. We see Jerry and Richard as we go around.

Bob and I are doing laundry today (so much for thinking the weather would be worse today.) Nan and I agree to meet for a walk and happy hour after later. I go home and stretch and send and email to Glenda to let her know it's okay to mail her quilted wall hanging here. I can't wait to see it.

I pack up five loads of laundry. By 11:30 we head to Keckner RV Service on 1069 just west of 35 Bypass. The parking lot is a mess and we miss the first driveway and have to circle around back. It is blocked by orange cones. It looks like you'll sink in. We back out and our newly-washed truck is full of sandy mud.

Bob describes our furnace issues and provides the model number. The guy is appreciative of that and says so. At first he says they are busy--booked up. I ask "Two weeks or what?" He says no, maybe by Thursday or Friday. Wow! A scheduler will call us by tomorrow. We're impressed that as soon as he hears the model number he knows it is a two-stage furnace. Maybe there's hope.

We head to Apple Dumplin' Deli in Rockport. Both of us opt for the special of the day--a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo with half a sandwich. I really enjoy my tunaberry (tuna salad with whole cranberry sauce and cream cheese on toasted pumpernickel. After we order, a group of six ladies comes in and we switch tables with them. The place is packed at noon. They get their orders and all hold hands. They surprise me by raising their hands and pumping up and down twice and saying "Bon Appetit, Bon Appetit!" Gotta love it-the new religion!

We're off to the Laundromat in Aransas Pass, our favorite one. It is very clean and not buys for a Monday--wash day after all. They all clear out and we fold by ourselves. We read the San Antonio paper that we picked up on the way. The place has a change machine and it is a good thing they do as we need quarters.

As we head home the wind is blowing like crazy; they did have a wind advisory from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. gusting to 40 mph.) We stow the laundry and have a voice message from the RV repair service. They are coming out tomorrow. I call them back and she says we'll get a call tomorrow telling us when we are on the schedule. What a concept! Keeping the customer informed. Stoney's in Ohio needs to hear this.

I make Chocolate Peanut Butter Ritz cookies. Bob loads pictures on the digital picture frame and read the paper. It's 4:00 p.m., partly cloudy, windy and 69 degrees with 33% humidity. I walk with Nan but no Roxy. It's a south wind and we can't motivate against it. Sure is a tough walk.

We agree to have happy hour at our place at 5:00. The awnings flap in the wind, we have Peach Schnapps and Baileys (but it turns thick, maybe because the Schnapps was warm and the Bailey's was cold.) So not to be deterred, we stick with Schnapps straight up. Then we proceed to snack ourselves to death on Braunnsweiger Ball, cheeseball, and Nan's great crab dip. It was nice of her to bring a dish of her lentil soup. It sure smells great. We can't wait to try it. We all enjoy my St. Pat's green M & M Ritz cookies. What a fun evening. They head home in the wind around 8:30. It's 9:12 p.m. and 55 degrees.
